Greetings HS hoops junkies from across the bracket-filling-out Piedmont! The Great One is here to give you his final rankings and crown the 2026 Furious 5 Champion. States are over and as usual it went to the final weekend to decide who gets the banner. Mooresville held the well earned top spot but fell short against Southern Durham in the 7A Ring Round. #2 West Charlotte was already in the clubhouse by winning the 8A title earlier in the week so the Mooresville loss gave the Lions the F5 title. The season was wild and woolly as were states. Our 4 month journey has come to an end so without further delay, we will now go……..TO THE 5!!!!
1. WEST CHARLOTTE 23-6 – THE LIONS TAKE THE F5 TITLE BY WINNING THE 8A TITLE IN THE WANING MOMENTS AGAINST HOGGARD.
2. MOORESVILLE 27-3 – THE BLUE DEVILS END A HISTORICAL SEASON WITH A RUNNER-UP FINISH IN 7A.
3. NORTH MECK 25-5 – 7A FINAL FOUR
4. CATHOLIC 25-5 – 6A FINAL FOUR
5. HICKORY RIDGE 24-6 – 7A ELITE EIGHT
Don’t Sleep On: MARVIN RIDGE 22-6, HOUGH 20-7, ARDREY KELL 20-8, WEST MECK 18-10, EAST MECK 19-10.
Looked in the Window: MYERS PARK 18-9, WEDDINGTON 18-11, INDEPENDENCE 15-13, BUTLER 16-10, PROVIDENCE 15-11.
