Earlier this week, RJ Moore sent shockwaves through the high school basketball community after announcing his transfer to Ambassador Christian. The 6-foot-5 wing prospect departs from Corvian Community School, where he went 52-11 and appeared in back-to-back state championships (including a title victory in 2024-25). Moore amassed over 1200 points (19.3 PPG) during his first two seasons in high school while establishing himself as a focal point and one of the top scorers in the country. Entering the second year of their program, what can Moore bring to the Lions?
Again, Moore is one of the best scorers in the country. He followed up a highly productive freshman campaign with eye-popping numbers as a sophomore. Last season, Moore posted averages of 23.4 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 1.9 APG, and 1.2 SPG with 49/37/66 splits. He’s a real competitor who has played in every possible game during his high school career, which is amazing from a durability standpoint alone. Considering the burden he carried on a nightly basis, it’s difficult to be anything other than impressed with Moore.
Although he’s capable of being a one-man wrecking crew, Moore joins a team with an abundance of talent. The Lions will return everyone on their roster outside of JD Bowden and Dylan Deluca. Guys like Logan Johnson and Judah King offer a complementary duo of scholarship-level backcourt mates. Johnson is gradually starting to see his recruitment take off while King (now moved to 2027) continues to visibly make strides within his progression. Tyler Brown (also 2027) is a developing big man with length and athleticism. Folk should expect Jeremiah Franklin and Terence Guess to provide valuable contributions as well. While those names alone should be enough to elicit excitement, they also have a ton of intriguing freshmen within the program. Regardless, it’s clear that Ambassador Christian is positioning themselves to be one of the top teams in North Carolina going forward.
