The Phenom Lakesgiving event once again proved to be a stage where new talent emerges, and this past weekend, several prospects used their opportunity to make major first impressions. While these names may not yet dominate the headlines or recruiting conversations, they stepped up with strong performances, high motors, and undeniable flashes that demanded attention from our scouting staff. Notable New Names to Learn highlights the players who introduced themselves in a big way at Lakesgiving — showing they are ready to be part of the next wave of prospects to know on the Phenom Hoops platform.

2027 Nasir White (West Meck)

White has emerged as the go-to scorer for this team, proving it time after time, and I don’t see him slowing down. A program looking to change its ways, White will be a big part of that change with his ability to create, get downhill and attack, and display range with his shot-making.

2028 DJ Rogers (Cannon)

Rogers has a strong overall showing at the event, consistently providing physicality, scoring, and energy on either side of the floor. He was at his best went he was assertive and attacking, getting to the rim and making plays.  If he continues to play like this, Cannon for sure found another weapon to make them a team to watch.

2027 Jaishawn Woods (Gaston Christian)

Gaston Christian has been tremendous this season, and one of the main reasons why was the duo of guards Cam Newman and Woods. Newman is a well-known name around NC, but Woods has been putting himself more on the map with his speed, playmaking,

2027 Nick Whitener (North Lincoln)

North Lincoln is a very solid team and excited to watch them. With a roster that has plenty of players that can create, Whitener is a huge piece to the team’s success with his ability to battle, throw his body around, and be physical down in the paint. Really like his patience in the paint, and has a knack of scoring over defenders.

2028 Cohen Edwards (Lake Norman)

Lake Norman looks a big different this season, and Edwards was a newer name that grabbed my attention with his overall play. He was able to attack and score off the bounce well, consistently apply pressure on either side, and was effective throughout the weekend.

2028 Jack Baker (Burlington Christian)

Baker has been a name in the past, but from what he showed at the event, he should be a name to watch out for more as he introduces himself more to NC. Good size, confident scorer, mixes it up really, and understands how to produce with the ball in his hands. A Top 40 prospect in NC for Phenom Hoops, he is a name to watch a lot more.
