What to Watch at Phenom Team Camp Session II

This upcoming weekend, Phenom Hoops will travel to Bermuda Run, North Carolina, to host our annual June Team Camp (Session II). The event always features a slew of the most talented teams and individuals within the Carolinas, and this year’s will be no different. Leading up to the event, we will take a closer look at players and subplots to monitor. Arguably the best team in North Carolina last season, Reidsville looks to maintain its dominance in the final season for their special pairing. Let’s take a closer look….
Although everyone is familiar with the unprecedented levels of success the Rams have reached over the recent years, this season will be much more challenging. The Dionte Neal-Kendre Harrison duo has only lost one high school game—the state championship from their freshman season. There is no denying what they’ve accomplished together, both for Reidsville and Team CP3, but the loss of several key pieces will definitely change things. Johnniyus Sharpe, Kristian Scales, and Cam’Ron Jones were incredibly important to the overall structure of this team. The Rams will need new guys to step up and replace nearly half of their scoring and a third of their rebounding. It’s certainly possible, but it’ll be an uphill battle. New guys will need to emerge.
Fortunately, the headlining names represent two of the most productive players in the state. Neal and Harrison should be expected to take more shots out of pure necessity. Neal is a highly intelligent floor general who simply knows how to propel teams forward. He’s a terrific playmaker who touches the paint at a high volume, scores from all levels, and consistently makes the right decision with the ball in his hands. Neal is also a pesky defender who anticipates well to force turnovers. Meanwhile, Harrison is a physical anomaly. He’s an absolute tank with the strength, mobility, and explosiveness to destroy opponents on both ends of the floor. Harrison dominates the glass while consistently blocking shots and applying pressure as a finisher around the basket. The special duo of two-sport athletes should each have incredible senior campaigns.
