This past weekend, Phenom Hoops traveled to Columbia, South Carolina for the prestigious Bojangles Bash at Ridge View High School. There was an influx of talented teams and players on display from all around the country, but few guys were more impressive than Asanti Price of Keenan High School. At a long, wiry 6-foot-5, he’s starting to gain traction as one of the top available prospects in the Carolinas, and rightfully so, given his level of on-court consistency throughout the last calendar year.

Earlier this year, we saw Price at Summer Havoc with Team Vision-NC, where he was showing extended flashes of dominant play. We wrote: “In terms of boosting their stock, no player has done more for his recruitment at Summer Havoc than Asanti Price. The two-way wing can quietly pile up points on all three levels, and has the ability to generate shots for himself whenever necessary. Price is long and fairly athletic, and really knows how to punish opponents in transition, which makes him even more difficult to contain. Offensively, Price showcased his upside as a scorer, but also made nice plays for others whenever possible. On the other end, he’s able to defend two or three positions comfortably at this level. Price is quite intriguing and should be receiving looks from a majority of the college coaches at the Upward Stars Center.”

Since then, Price transferred to Combine Academy and reclassified to the Class of 2020 before ultimately deciding to return to South Carolina and attend Keenan High School (back in the Class of 2019). His combination of size, length, and shooting should certainly make him worthy of high major looks, even after re-entering his original class. Price can score in a vast variety of ways, but his ability to spot-up and stretch the floor is what separates him from other scorers. Right now, he holds a New Orleans offer, but should start accumulating more as the season progresses, especially if he’s able to maintain his impressive level of play.
