Queen City Thunder 13U
Phenom Hoop Report is well known in bringing quality camps and tournaments to the high school level and now we will be doing the same for the middle school age groups. The inaugural Queen City Middle School Showcase will feature some of the top travel ball programs in the seventh and eighth grade. The weekend of February 24-25 will kick off action at Olympic High School and surrounding gyms/schools in the area. Today, we want to take a look at the Queen City Thunder coached by Brian Allen.
Coach Allen has been a fixture of the NC Phenom 150 and NC Junior Phenom camp. Coach Allen brings a passion that is rarely seen in today’s youth basketball. He is always a positive coach and uplifting person on and off the court and since he’s been a fixture at our Phenom camps, we’ve had the opportunity to look at two players off his teams.
5’2 ’23 Marquis Ophilant (Charlotte, NC)
One thing is for certain, Maquis Ophilant is a young scrappy guard on both ends of the court. Coach Allen stated, “Marquis is strong with the rock. He possesses solid court vision and is effective running the break in transition.” Overall, Marquis has the ability to be and effective floor general utilizing his court vision and passing ability. In addition, Marquis has excellent speed and quickness and can be a demon on the defensive end of the court.
5’10 ’23 Jordan Allen Charlotte, NC)
Jordan simply has the right attitude and mindset for such a young player. We were impressed with his court vision and overall team first approach to the game. Jordan’s is a big frame point guard that also shoots it extremely well. He has solid shooting mechanics and an advanced understanding of the game. At the NC Junior Phenom camp, we nicknamed name Jordan “J Rock” because he played so hard all day and was a joy to coach.
