Queen City Middle School Showcase
Team Preview
Queen City Thunder 14U “Coach Rob”

Phenom Hoop Report is well known in bringing quality camps and tournaments to the high school level and now we will be doing the same for the middle school age groups. The inaugural Queen City Middle School Showcase will feature some of the top travel ball programs in the seventh and eighth grade. The weekend of February 24-25 will kick off action at Olympic High School and surrounding gyms/schools in the area. Today, we want to take a look at the Queen City Thunder coached by Robert McCullough. Two players were evaluated extensively at the NC Junior Phenom camp last fall. Now, let’s take a look at the top players off the team.

5’7 ’22 Robert “Tre” McCullough (Charlotte)

Robert “Tre” McCullough really impressed us at the NC Junior Phenom camp last October. He showcased the ability to score from all three levels, not to mention the ability to create his own shot off the dribble/bounce. In addition, he played with a high motor and showed a lot of grit and toughness. Tre has the unique ability to create for himself and at the same time create scoring opportunities for his teammates. Coach Simmons-Liner stated, “Tre is a natural floor leader that is passionate about the game of basketball. He is a tough defender and has the ability to lead his team and get everyone involved.”

5’6 ’22 Carlton Anthony (Charlotte, NC)

Carlton is another player we watched extensively at the NC Junior Phenom camp. He was one of the toughest overall players at the camp. He demonstrated grittiness and intensity and took individual pride in being a strong defender, which is not often seen in a camp setting. Carlton has good athleticism who brings loads of energy and effort into the game. Coach Simmons-Liner stated, “Carlton is such a great team player. He is a very aggressive player who plays both ends of the court.”

5’7 ’22 Davion Cunningham (Charlotte, NC)

Coach Simmons-Liner stated, “Davion is the true definition of an all-around athlete. He shoots the ball extremely well and has the ability to take over the game.”

6’0 Zachary “Zach” Liner (Charlotte, NC)

Zach is the ultimate team players. He is a so selfless and has the ability to play and guard multiple positions. Zach runs the floor well and is an excellent rebounder for his size/grade.
