It was a fantastic event in Greensboro, NC, as the top players from the state met up at Proehlific Park on Sunday and battled it out on the court. Here are some quick hitters from the event, as several kids made a name for themselves.
2018 Quick Hitters
– Devon Dotson
o Dotson was one of the high-profile talents several people wanted to see and he didn’t disappoint. He was sensational at the point guard and his overall game is off the charts. He was one of the best players on the court when he was there and there is no doubt more offers will come his way.
– Jayden Gardner
o This young man simply produced on the court. It is hard to describe his game at times but he showed he is a versatile player on the court and competes in all areas. He also quietly produces in the box score.
– Quanyavis McCluney
o What else can you say about this young man but that he had a sensational event that is now putting him on the market. He had a game high of 37 points in the third game and led the day in average ppg with 23.3. With his 6’5 frame, he simply couldn’t be stopped.
– John Newman
o I have been high on Newman for some time now and I like what he can do in all areas of the floor. He is quick and athletic in transition and in the open floor, he can take advantage of bigger opponents and spread the floor, and he can also knock down the open jump shot.
– Andy Pack
o We couldn’t get enough of this young man. Pack was a highlight film for much of the day and he really seems to be growing into his overall game and an event like this really displayed his game. Really showed how athletic he can be on the court. Knock down guard that gets it done offensively.
– Adafe Price
o This was the second event for Price this year for Phenom. We were excited to see him in action against the best and this young man held his own. He just seems to have a feel for the game, understands what he can do on the court, and has a high motor around the ball.
– Nate Springs
o Springs was yet another prospect we were eager to watch from the Phenom150. This young man has an amazing upside and is still developing his game. But his 6’11 size can’t be taught and showed that he can be a versatile big on the court, knocking down outside shots.
– Tre Turner
o This young man has a bright future and is a solid football prospect. But he put that athletic frame and skills on display in Greensboro. He really shows that he can be a ball handler on offense, understands how to get open, and consistently hit the open jumper, especially from three.
– Hunter Tyson
o His length is what stood out. Still could gain some weight but he surprises you with his wing span, simply raising right over his defender and knocking down any shot he wanted when left open.
– Trey Wertz
o When we watched him, this young man stretched the floor with his outside shooting, consistently knocking down threes. Wanted to watch him attack the rim a little more but with his smooth stroke, you couldn’t help but like what he brought to the table at the NC Top 80.
