2028 6’8 PJ Parker (Vasquez HS)
Parker is a very interesting forward who caught several eyes at the camp. Standing at 6’9, Parker was able to flourish with his overall activity, impact down low, and comfort from a variety of levels. What impressed me the most was his instincts and quick reaction on the glass, staying active, attacking the boards, and showing strong footwork operating in the paint. Parker had a soft touch around the basket but was able to operate well in other areas of the court. That doesn’t even mention his ability to impact and make plays on both sides, guarding along the perimeter, bringing length, and altering shots inside. He will be a name worth monitoring in the coming years.
2029 6’0 Bre’vynn Johnson (Bishop Gorman)
Johnson is a young guard that I will certainly have my eyes on down the road, especially as he continues to develop and get bigger/stronger. But Johnson really impressed with his ability to attack, get downhill, and display athleticism in his game. At times, he was able to show his range in knocking down shots from the perimeter, but also grabs your attention with his ability to attack the defense, get to the rim, and be a playmaker for himself or others. Really flourishes as a dynamic guard with good speed and burst, as well as explosiveness.
2028 6’6 Terrance Byrd (Sandra Day O’Connor)
Byrd captured my attention with how smooth he operated on the court, especially as a wing at 6’6. He brought a nice blend of ability as a scorer and creator, using his frame to force and attack off the bounce, getting to his spots or the rim, and finding ways to finish through contact. But he was just as capable of setting up his defenders to create space and knock down shots. Whether it was out in the open floor or operating in the half court, Byrd is one that was able to flourish in a variety of ways and areas. His presence on the glass also couldn’t go unnoticed.
2028 6’0 Soloman Clanton Jr. (Viewpoint)
Clanton Jr. is a guard who made his presence noticed on several occasions when watching him. The 6’0 guard really flashed his ability to break down opponents one-on-one, doing a great job in creating space for himself. Clanton Jr. hit some tough shots throughout the camp, pulling up with his mid-range game or from behind the arc. He was one that was able to catch our attention with his shot-making ability.
