In recent news, many have heard of the departure of 2027 King Gibson from The Burlington School and making his way to Montverde. Certainly, a big loss for TBS as Gibson is widely regarded as a Top-25 prospect in the country and as one of the clear leaders on the team. But with him gone, it is providing another opportunity for others to shine, as players like 2025 Cam Flippen, 2025 Kaden Hammond, and 2026 Drew Johnson have all stepped up in his absence. We dive into more of their games and why they are deserving of more attention.
2025 6’2 Cam Flippen
With the departure of Gibson, Flippen looks to take over and embrace even more of the leadership role, and he is showing that he is up to the challenge. Flippen’s game allows him to be a college-worthy prospect, especially with his strength and college frame already, his impact on both sides of the court, and his overall motor. Offensively, he has stepped up even more in his ability to create, making strong drives and finishing well, scoring off the bounce, and being able to create and facilitate. One can’t deny the hard work and his motor on the court, as he has clearly elevated his game more as the season goes on.
2025 6’8 Kaden Hammond
One of the most underrated bigs left in the Class of 2025, Hammond has taken a lot of strides with his game. The 6’8 forward continues to carve out space and shows his capabilities to body down low with a soft touch, finishing around the basket really well but he has really improved with his outside game, stepping out and being a threat in stretching the floor. Throughout this season, Hammond has been the clear go-to option and physical presence both in the paint and on the glass, and he has blossomed into a strong college prospect.
2026 5’11 Drew Johnson
Johnson has a chance to really shine even more this season, as he will be counted on big-time even more to be a very strong offensive option. Johnson is a quick, crafty guard who can make plays out in transition, create with the ball in his hands, or just play off the ball in looking for his shot. Johnson displays a high IQ feel for the game and finds his way within the offense. Johnson has stepped up for this team and has an opportunity to shine even more this year at TBS.
