5’10” 2020 Jalen Coit
Cheraw HS (Cheraw, SC)

When we walked into Richmond Senior High School, we did not expect what Jalen Coit gave us. We knew that Coit was good however, yet we were still taken aback with the elite performance Coit gave.
The 5’10” freshman, is averaging 24.4 points per game through Cheraw High School’s first 15 games this season. However, in this game, Coit exploded. He went onto some next level stuff, in what has to be classified as one of the Top 5 single game performances we have seen this year.
Coit finished with 38 points on 5 made 3s. The left-handed guard was utterly dominate, conjuring images that fell somewhere between Davidson signee Carter Collins and Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas. To boot, Coit chipped in 11 assists accounting for 63 of his team’s 85 total points.
Coit displayed an incredible sense on the court. He sees the floor extremely well, with a very tight handle and the ability to get where he wants on the floor. He plays with a natural change of pace and has a lethal middle game.
Coit is an alum of the prestigious South Carolina Top 80 exposure camp. After his performance in the 2016 event we wrote, “Coit has a very nice upside. Even though he was one of the younger kids in camp, he was a consistent paint getter and showed good decision making ability once there. Coit’s camp coach Austin Reid stated, “Jalen is a very quick and crafty point guard. He got into the paint regularly and showed a nice floater. Coit has a very high upside.”
It is still early in Coit’s recruitment as not many people have heard of him yet, but they will. This one is too good and has an extremely bright future. College coaches need to make their way to Cheraw, South Carolina (and when you’re in town make sure to eat at Hooks), and take a look at this young man. He is incredibly talented.
