High School Coach Evaluation: Coreon Jackson is in his second year on the Varsity level, he’s become stronger, quicker and his IQ of the game has finally caught up to his ability. He’s a player that has emerged as the next take over player for the Phoebus Basketball program. His strengths are as follows: His defensive ability to shut down a good offensive player, his ability to consistently knock down 3’s from deep and his all in attitude. Coreon’s upside is he will probably end up as a 6’-5” to 6’-7” scorer and our next big time Division I prospect from the 757. If he reminds me of any player in the past I would compare him to Jordon Baker out of Hampton High (Old Dominion University) with a better jump shot. – Coach James Daniel, Head Coach Phoebus High School

Coach Frank says: Coreon is a smart and shifty, high motor playmaker who brings not only a great deal of energy to both ends of the court but plays with toughness and grit. He is a skilled ball handler who has very good court vision, takes care of the basketball and makes great decisions. Coreon is most effective attacking the basket where his quickness and long frame allows him to slice through the lane and get to the rim quickly. He is a very good finisher and has a knack of getting to the free throw line where he converts at a high percentage. Coreon has a very good mid range jumper which compliments his ability to beat his defender and get to the paint. He defends with an attitude, has excellent footwork and his long wingspan allows him to distract ball handlers and make them react to his pressure. Only a freshman, Coreon is already a key piece for a state power who should compete for a state title this season. He stepped up in big situations for Phoebus last year so he has shown to have a confidence and maturity beyond his years. He will be a player college coaches will take note of as his high school career progresses.
