6’8 ’28 Chase Smith (Queens Grant)
After one of the most productive freshman campaigns throughout North Carolina, Smith looks even better entering his sophomore season. He’s a very strong, skilled forward/post player with impressive polish and a reliable two-way presence. Smith finishes well with both hands and plays above the rim as needed. He’s comfortable at scoring out of the post or spacing the floor along the perimeter. Smith is a quality rebounder who positions himself well and outworks opponents for extra opportunities. Add in his ability to block shots and run the floor in transition, and it’s easy to see all the things that make him one of the top players in his class.
6’6 ’28 Mekhi Allen (Queens Grant)
Easily one of the most intriguing long-term prospects in the state, Allen continues to showcase all the makings of a special player. Between his frame, athleticism, and upside as an elite shot-making wing, it’s pretty easy to see his path to success. Allen knocked down jumpers at a quality rate while actively attacking closeouts and setting up others to keep defenses honest. When his shot is falling, he’s incredibly difficult for opponents to contain. Allen also utilizes his length and anticipation to block shots and force turnovers defensively. He should only continue to trend upward.
5’10 ’28 Bobby Montgomery (Queens Grant)
The Stallion’s roster is loaded with impactful young pieces, which includes Montgomery and everything he brings to the table. He’s a small, scrappy guard who can find success from either backcourt position. Montgomery is capable of running the offense and setting up others, but is arguably even better when playing alongside another ball-handler. This allows him to highlight his terrific shooting ability and consistently knock down jumpers along the perimeter. However, Montgomery can also attack off the bounce and make decisions with ball in his hands. Add in his pesky on-ball defense, and it’s easy to see his value for this group.
6’6 ’28 Keaton Terry (Chapmanville)
There were a lot of enticing pieces from the Chapmanville roster, and Terry was as productive as anyone. At 6-foot-6, he’s a versatile forward who can do a little bit of everything. Terry sets the tone with his nonstop motor and general involvement in the action. He’s capable of initiating the offense and consistently getting downhill as a penetrator. Terry finishes well around the basket, but can also knock down open jumpers or create shots for others. He’s capable of defending multiple positions and setting the tone as a rebounder. Given his age and upside, Terry has the tools to blossom into a highly appealing player.
