Multiple Schools in to See Independence Prospects

Following a Monday which saw an Oregon State Assistant Coach and Temple's Head Coach Fran Dunphy come in to see Jamarius Burton, he had Clemson and Winthrop by to watch.

In a monster 67-40 win over defending NCHSAA state champion Lincoln Charter, Burton finished with another full stat sheet. The strong and explosive combo guard had 17 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 1 block.

Winthrop was also in for Independence 6'7' junior Matthew Smith. Smith is a long and very active forward who is rapidly making the transition to become a wing. The junior is having an absolute monster season so far, and this game was no different. He finished with 11 points, 14 boards, 3 blocks and 3 steals.

Currently, Burton (one of the hottest unsigned seniors in the region) carries offers from LaSalle, East Carolina, Kent State and Hampton.

Matthew Smith is one of the more talked about players around the Hoop State. He currently has offers from Appalachian State, Presbyterian, and Hampton.

High scoring guard, 6'2' junior Andra McKee, is another player coaches need to go ahead and put on their radar. He is averaging over 20 points per game this season showing a confidence to flat put the ball in the bucket. In this one he put another 15 point game on the board.

Make sure you get out to watch the 8-0 Independence team (and their multiple D1 prospects) at Phenom’s Palmetto Winter Classic at Ben Lippen School in Columbia, SC.
