6'4' 2019 Jamahri Harvey
Freedom Christian (Fayetteville, NC)

A Prospect College Coaches Need to Know

Take a quick look down in Fayetteville, North Carolina and you see that Jamahri Harvey is making rapid improvement in his game. He does a little bit of everything, and he continues to get better. Fayetteville is currently a hot bed of talent, but make no mistake, when coaches are making their rounds they need to stop by Freedom Christian and put eyes on Harvey.

Harvey has always played hard, he always is around the ball winning virtually all of the 50/50 balls on the floor. He is a multi-positional defender, who can pass the ball, rebound the ball and he is able to score the ball.

As with many of the players throughout the region, Harvey has attended multiple NC Phenom 150 exposure camps. This is a first come and first served camp that puts players from across the Eastern Seaboard and Southeast Regions in front of major scouts and college coaches. After Harvey's performance in this camp we wrote, 'Young man that showed flashes in his game at the event. Only 2019 kid and still have a ton of room to grow into his game, but he excelled in areas such as penetrating the lane and finishing at the rim, ball handling skills, defense on and off the ball, quickness and footwork, rebounding his position, and shooting off the dribble. Still needs to work on his catch and shoot ability, along with widening his range. But already at 6'3, this kid has a ton of room to grow and develop and should be one to look at for in the coming years.'

Harvey is now the focal point of this Freedom Christian team. Even though he is only a junior, it is his steady play that leads the team. Harvey is able to play the one, two or three positions on the floor and he carries the traits you want each of those positions to have. Naturally is a very good, multi-positional defender. But offensively he has a good handle, consistent range on his jump shot and the ability to get downhill and finish in traffic.

After watching one of Harvey's performances this summer, National Analyst Jamie Shaw wrote, 'Harvey's best trait is his ability to use his length to make plays. He seemingly comes up with every 50/50 ball and seems to collect deflections on the defensive end. Harvey's offensive game is rapidly expanding as well. He is comfortable with the ball in his hands from the wing and has developed a very confident middle game.'

Harvey already carries early offers from Longwood, South Carolina State, and Hampton. Those schools have a keen eye as Harvey should look to rack up more over the remainder of this high school season and into the summer travel ball season.

Watch closely as Harvey and his Freedom Christian team will be participating in Phenom's Palmetto Winter Showcase on December 28-30 at Ben Lippen School in Columbia, South Carolina. This event is chock full of Division 1 talent and will be a great place to watch Harvey as well as many other prospects, compete in one setting.
