Over the past 10 years, Word of God Christian Academy (the Holy Rams) has built itself into a national entity. With putting top-level talent on its roster, year in and year out, like John Wall, Dez Wells, CJ Leslie, TJ Warren, Torian Graham, Zach Newkirk, etc..etc..etc…every gym the Holy Rams walked into, they garnered your attention.

Well, the start of the 2019-20 season has them right back to that point. Right on cue, let us introduce former Shaw University Coach Byron Williams and Top 10 2020 recruit Isaiah Todd to the mix. Williams brings a brashness and a pedigree while Todd brings the star power, both kindred spirits, and both ready to make the Holy Ram name ring across the nation’s lips once more.

However, this team is far from a one man show. This roster is filled with Division 1 talent. It was a roster carefully built and pieced together. The point guard position is in good hands. Back is the returning starting PG, 6’2″ 2020 Chase Forte, an explosive, downhill lead guard who can score away from the basket or above the rim. Enter incoming 6’1″ 2022 Khalil Marshall to push Forte in practice every day. These two will make one another better every day in practice and you can see lineups with both on the floor together, as they can both defend, shoot and handle.

At the off guard spot, you have 6’3″ 2022 Po’Boigh King, a transfer from Roanoke Rapids High School, who is one of the purest and effortless bucket getters in North Carolina. His game is not as flashy as his name, but his numbers speak volumes. At the other wing spot, you bring in 6’7″ Saiquone Harris, from Garner High School. Already committed to Hutchinson Community College, Harris has a chance to be one of the breakout performers of this high school season as he has toughness, ability to defend across multiple positions and ball skills.

Joining Todd in the post is 6’8 2020 Josiah Shackelford, a returning player from last season’s team. Shackelford is coming off an injury that kept him out this summer, but he is lengthy, strong and plays with toughness. Word of God is looking to add one other post piece, a brute with hands and explosion, who will make life much easier for Todd, as this new player (who we will not mention here as it has not been made official) will join Shackelford playing as a protector of sorts

Filling out the roster you have the likes of 6′ Lance Anthony, 6’6″ twins Kenechi and Kanayo Nwosu and Quandre Bullock. This team is filled with lengthy athletes, skilled players, and shooters. A lot to like as the Word of God Holy Rams are firmly planting their name, back into the national conversation
