Today’s 5 To Know
Phenom’s Millbrook Showcase

It was a great day at Millbrook High School. Dozens of college coaches showed up, along with the many scouts who lined the sidelines. Prospects were able to be seen on this platform.

Many players were able to step up to the plate as well. By the end of the day there was a sold out and very energetic crowd, that provided a very good atmosphere.

Some underclassmen broke out and some unsigned seniors proved their Division 1 worth. Of the many great performances, here is a listing of five (5) players that really stepped up and utilized the platform.

6’3” Unsigned Senior Gerrard Simpkins (Bishop Sullivan)
Simpkins made some noise during his team’s showing at the Phenom National Showcase. However, came into Phenom’s Millbrook Showcase and just broke the speakers. He has always been explosive form the wing, but what he showed in this event is his comfort on the ball. Simpkins distributed great passes in the half court. Simpkins finished with 16 points, 11 boards, and 4 assists in the game. Currently, Simpkins carries a High Point offer. Simpkins is easily a D1 prospect.

6’5” Unsigned Senior Trejon Jacob (Millbrook)
Jacob has been a name with some buzz surrounding him recently, due to his performance at the Phenom High School Showcase in early November. The lengthy left hander did nothing to downplay that growing reputation. Jacob finished from beyond the arc, he finished above the rim, and he turned defense into offense. Jacob finished with 25 points. He carries multiple D2 offers. Jacob is easily a D1 prospect.

6’4” Sophomore Tre Turner (Northwest Guilford)
Consistently, over the past year, Turner has been climbing up the charts. He has progressively played well starting at the 2015 North Carolina Top 80, then the CP3 Live, and the Phenom High School Showcase. Well at Phenom’s Millbrook Turner turned the full corner. He is a player that Power 5 school should be tracking. He carries a Maryland Eastern Shore offer (he is also a high major wide receiver).

5’10” Sophomore Maurice Wilcox (Neuse Christian)
Wilcox has come to many Phenom AAU events, and has played well. Even in his time at Word of God last season, he showed some flashes, but Wilcox has stepped his game up. The system fits what he does, and that is handle and shoot. Wilcox is a deft shooter with deep range, he also has the ball on a string, and carries good vision. Wilcox doesn’t have any offers yet, however be on watch, they will start to come.

6’3” Junior Telligence Johnson (Terry Sanford)
Super athlete. Johnson is two time alum of the prestigious North Carolina Top 80. In this game, Johnson showed patience and burst in the half court set. He was comfortable on the ball, but did not try and do more than necessary. He made shots with range, attacked the rim, and finished with great balance, through contact. The defending state champion doesn’t carry any offers yet, but look for that to change as he continues on this path.
