Phenom High School Jamboree

From the Sidelines

Unsigned Senior Part 2

The Phenom High School Jamboree held Saturday, November 4th was a huge success. Over 33 teams participated in the one day event where teams played scrimmage games of two 20-minute halves with a running clock. The gym was packed with spectators and high number of college coaches. Today, we want to take a look at some of the top unsigned seniors that played and made major statements.

6'1 '18 Greyson Collins (Caldwell Academy)

Greyson Collins may not be the first player selected in a 'pick up' game or will he not pass the look test. That being said, don't let that fool you. This young man simply has game. The southpaw is crafty, cagey and plays with an advanced basketball IQ. Collins averaged 20.3 PPG in the three scrimmage games, but did it in an unselfish way. Collins can score consistently from the perimeter and is an efficient 3-point shooter and has a skillful runner to boot. He is constantly making winning plays and has a terrific feel for the game.

6'4 '18 Jonathan McFall (Rabun Gap)

Jonathan McFall has tremendous length, reach and an enormous wingspan, not to mention an elite level athleticism. McFall scored from all three levels and finished aggressively on drives to the rim. He averaged 16.0 PPG and showcased a nice blend of skills and athleticism that should make him an attractive D1 prospect. In addition, McFall is a willing defender and has the ability to play much bigger than his listed height. McFall gets it done on both ends of the court and plays with passion and conviction.

6'7 Ben Uloko (West Forsyth)

Ben Uloko has flown under the D1 recruiting radar for quite some time, but we expect that to change sooner rather than later. We're talking about a strong and lengthy paint protector. He will be a 'double double' player for coach Rusty LaRue this season. Uloko has impeccable timing on blocking shots and grabbing/securing rebounds on both ends of the court. In addition, Uloko has passer friendly hands and is a willing passer out of the post. He rebounds firmly with two hands and is always making a quick and accurate outlet pass. Uloko averaged 15.3 PPG in the three scrimmage games and probably had equal number of rebounds.

6'3 '18 Tomas Butkus (Rabun Gap)

Tomas Butkus is simply an exciting and fun player to watch. First of all, he is constantly giving 100% effort/energy 100% of the time. He has unbelievable court vision and has advanced passing skills. If you're open, Butkus will make the pass on time and on target that allows his teammates to be in the proper scoring position. While Butkus averaged 10.5 PPG, he is the engine of the team and controls the tempo both in the half court and in transition.
