July is going to be fun, especially with Phenom Hoops. That is why we are getting just a small head-start on the teams and players that will be in attendance for the Summer Havoc. Here, we look to preview just a few names to watch for throughout the weekend in Rock Hill, with many others stepping up their game in front of college coaches.
NLPB
It has been amazing to see how this program has grown into where they are today and at the Summer Havoc, this will be a program that will have multiple teams on display for college coaches. And trust us, these teams will be must-see throughout the four days in Rock Hill. So let’s dive into the teams that will be coming and just go over A FEW of the players to watch.
NLPB 204 17u:
This should be a popular team to watch all throughout the event. 2022 6’7 Treyvon Byrd is one that holds multiple offers but is looking to add more with his long frame, his athleticism, and scoring capability. 2022 Mike Best nearly averaged a triple-double during the high school season and helps lead the charge for NLPB, which is why schools from around the region are showing strong interest; he is looking like a D1 point guard that schools could use.
2022 6’2 Rashon Leach, 2022 6’3 Keshawn Leach, and 2022 6’6 Tucker Johnson are also just a few players along with others that should have college coaches’ attention this weekend.
NLPB 204 16u:
This is a team that some could find some underrated prospects and steals. A roster full of 2023 prospects, will certainly be there to come and compete. With players like 2023 Markeevis Lata, 2023 6’4 Julian Silvestri, 2023 6’6 D’Markus Tucker, and several others will be names to watch, while a few 2024 players could be interesting topics for college coaches.
But much like the other squads that will be in attendance, this will be a team to carefully watch.
NLPB 828 2k23:
Another part of the program, NLPB 828 has some intriguing young talent that will be a must-see. 2024 6’6 Rakease Passmore will be one of the headliners. We are talking about a player that checks off a lot of boxes early on and already holds multiple D1 offers. But expect that list to jump up rapidly with his talent. Then you have a very good point guard in Caleb Senyo, a player that can make a difference in several areas of the court, be a pest on defense, has really good floor awareness, and can score very well from multiple areas.
That doesn’t mean you look past players like 2023 Cayden Mobley, 2023 Deshawn Stone, 2023 Jayden Harper, 2023 Logan Hodgins, and 2025 Grant Clayton with this team.
NLPB TN 15u:
A young team that gives you a glimpse of a few talents from the state of Tennessee for the future, NLPB TN 15u has come intriguing talent. 2024 5’11 Will Hurd has lit up the floor with his scoring in his last Phenom Hoops event, while 2024 6’4 Connor Simcox and 2024 6’8 Will Broadfoot have some early interest from schools. Both are skilled forwards that have good early size, as a few D2 schools are already coming their way.
NLPB Big Cats 17u:
A few of the older prospects, the NLPB Big Cats should be a team that schools of multiple levels will have their eyes on. 2022 Griffin Green is a 6’5 guard that has interests from Western Carolina, UNC-Asheville, Charleston, and others already, while 2022 5’9 Brent Sleight and 2022 Trey Penland are two other names to keep an eye on.
