July is going to be fun, especially with Phenom Hoops. That is why we are getting just a small head-start on the teams and players that will be in attendance for the Summer Havoc. Here, we look to preview just a few names to watch for throughout the weekend in Rock Hill, with many others stepping up their game in front of college coaches.
WBC Aria Paris
The eastern side of the state in North Carolina is always loaded with talent and you can certainly find some hidden gems on the court. One team from the area will be WBC Aria Paris and they have some intriguing names that should have the attention of college coaches.
When you look at the roster, there are a few names that stand out. 2022 Mikhail Pocknett is one that grabs your attention and that he should, already holding a few offers and more could be coming with his size and skillset. He’s strong, physical, and athletic enough to make his presence consistently felt from inside the paint but also smart and skilled enough to reliably run the team as an offensive centerpiece. Also having 2022 6’5 Lenier Pocknett, who was a recent standout at the Phenom G3, where this was said about his game: brings that physical presence to the floor, not afraid to play against or bring contact to the floor but was also strong down low in the paint and on the boards and create opportunities for himself. Even though he was more of a down-low presence for WBC, he still stepped up nicely to knock down a few threes as well.
Then you look at a rising big in 2023 6’7 Abrahm Driver, who has a nice blend of size, skill, and touch around the rim while continuing to make an impact on the boards as well. Then you have other players such a 2022 6’3 Jeyvian Tatum, 2023 6’5 Jarrod Vaughn, 2023 6’4 Khalil Genwright, and several others from the eastern side of the state.
