All throughout the past months, Phenom Hoops got a glimpse of players that will certainly be playing at the next level but it also gave us a glimpse of players that are going under the radar. One of those players that caught our eyes on several occasions was 2022 6’4 Tyler Gettings with the Charlotte Aces.
Gettings is a physical prospect that understands how to score inside but also can operate from other areas of the floor. He has a strong post presence, finishing strong around the rim but also showing comfort in his jumper from multiple areas. With his strength and ability to finish at the rim, Gettings filled up the stat sheet consistently this summer and could be one that really continues to break out this upcoming high school season.
What Has Been Said:
“Gettings was tremendous to start his event and the overall day. The 6’4 prospect showed a nice skillset all over the floor, showing his comfort level in his jumper from outside and three, as well as playing incredibly strong around the paint and finishing at the rim. Gettings just seemed to have a hand in everything on the court, including strong on the boards and defensively.” – Patrick O’Brien from Summer Havoc
“Gettings has been a known name over the summer and every time he steps on the court, he produces. This is why he could be a nice steal for a program that is looking for a physical prospect that can score from multiple levels, competes, uses his frame to body through contact, and can finish at the rim from time to time.” – Patrick O’Brien from Summer Grind
“He’s a long, wiry guard prospect that defends with purpose and thrives in transition, where he’s able to attack the basket and finish through contact. Gettings displays a strong motor and a pretty solid feel for the game, especially given his age. He had a productive showing on Sunday and could be one to watch develop.” – Jeff Bendel in 2019
