6’5” Unsigned Senior Jamarius Burton
Independence (Charlotte, NC)

Multiple Schools Come By to See Unsigned Senior

On December 28-30 Independence High School will be part of the 12-team field at Phenom’s Palmetto Winter Classic at Ben Lippen School in Columbia, South Carolina.

Today, Oregon State Assistant Coach Kerry Rupp and Temple Head Coach Fran Dunphy were by to see Burton. This is on the tails of Coastal Carolina Assistant Coach Patrice Days dropping by to see him last week.

Burton is one of the most talked about unsigned seniors in this 2018 class throughout the region. He has started off the season leading his team to a torrid 7-0 start and a Top 5 ranking in NCHSAA regardless of classification.

So far Burton is averaging 16 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals per game. He missed the majority of last year because of a knee injury and is just now returning back to full force (both mentally and physically). He’s a physically strong and tremendous athlete who has incredible bounce. In fact, Burton may be one of the best finishers at the rim in the state. While his explosion first opens your eyes, he will surprise you with his team play and unselfish approach to the game. In the open court, Jamarius has great vision and makes timely passes to open teammates. He has all the ingredients to be a big-time prospect.

Even after his injury, East Carolina, LaSalle, Kent State and Hampton have remained in the sweepstakes keeping Burton as a top recruit.
