With summer coming to an end, it is time to reflect on all the talent and players we watched throughout the months on the Phenom Hoops platform. Again, our job at Phenom is to provide a platform for players to be seen and recognized, which is what we are looking to do. Reviewing so much film and reports, our team is looking to shed light on players that college coaches should be looking at or tracking, whether they are big-time talents or hidden gems.
Phenom Hoops recently had a chance to catch up and watch a prospect of interest in Virginia. 2028 6’7 Jovin Johnson from Collegiate School was able to flourish recently on the platform, as the forward was able to be a positive impact in several areas of the court. With his blend of size, mobility, physicality, and overall presence, Johnson is able to shine as a double-double type prospect that can score by getting to the rim, finishing in transition, and being comfortable in scoring in other ways, while also being an instant impact player on the glass. His motor and toughness shine in a big way with his game, and you can see the flashes in being able to expand his overall game and production.
Schools are already taking notice his way for the Class of 2028 but we wouldn’t be surprised if it starts to pick up even more after a strong summer and upcoming high school season.

“It’s quite obvious that this roster is loaded with scholarship-level pieces, and that certainly includes Johnson. He shines as a low-maintenance big man on both ends of the floor, utilizing his length, motor, and athleticism to consistently involve himself in the action. Johnson consistently rebounds, blocks shots, and runs the floor in transition. He finishes well through contact and plays above the rim with relative ease. However, Johnson also possesses a useful array of skills and the ability to expand his offensive production as needed. He’s capable of spacing the floor, attacking off the bounce, and making the extra pass. Now reclassified to 2028, expect his recruitment to see an uptick over the coming months.” – Jeff Bendel
