With summer coming to an end, it is time to reflect on all the talent and players we watched throughout the months on the Phenom Hoops platform. Again, our job at Phenom is to provide a platform for players to be seen and recognized, which is what we are looking to do. Reviewing so much film and reports, our team is looking to shed light on players that college coaches should be looking at or tracking, whether they are big-time talents or hidden gems.
We circle back to Harvest Development from this past summer, as 2028 Chris Phillips was one who consistently found ways to make his presence felt. Phillips has clearly developed nicely as a prospect, getting stronger and adding more to his game, finding ways to make an impact all around the floor. He excels in using his strength to attack downhill, embracing contact, finishing through defenders well, and also be able to consistently get paint touches. But he also does a strong job in finding open spots and being able to knock down shots as well, playing well within the offense. Phillips plays with an overall strong IQ and takes what is given, understanding what it takes to play within the system, and being a strong presence in setting the tone defensively.
Phillips continues to show why he is a prospect college coaches should have on their radar moving forward. His blend of strength, downhill scoring, perimeter shooting, basketball IQ, and defensive presence allows him to impact the game in several ways. As he continues to develop and expand his overall skill set, Phillips should remain a valuable name to track within North Carolina’s 2028 class.
