Neuse Christian has done a great job over the last few years building a program. They don’t have athletic scholarships so each kid shows up wanting to be in the school. The majority are at the school from their middle school years on.
The last couple of years, Neuse Christian has qualified for the NCISAA 1A state playoffs (arguably NCs toughest division over the past 5 years). However, this year they are looking for something more, they have a team in place that can make a run in those playoffs.
Head Coach Scottie Richardson prides himself on his offensive philosophy, of the 7 second shot clock. They want to get 90 possessions per game, and they want to spread the floor. The 2015-2016 version of Neuse Christian has a roster full of players that fit right into that.

The Wings
Neuse Christian will be led by a pair of 6’5” Junior wings DJ Myers and Kaleb Hunter. These two will be the two most highly recruited kids on the team, and most likely lead the team in most statistical categories. Myers carries offers from Western Carolina and UNC Greensboro. Hunter has offers from East Carolina, UNC Greensboro, Charlotte, and Old Dominion. Both player have great length, Myers is a righty with solid pull up game and range, Hunter is a downhill explosive lefty. Expect some big numbers from these two.
The Shooters
Surrounding the explosive wings are shooters 5’10” 2018 Marurice Wilcox, 6’7” 2016 Matt Kalaf, and 6’3 2016 Alan Clarke. Again you talk uptempo and shooters are just as involved as the athletic wings. Wilcox is a confident scoring lead guard who has deep range. Kalaf is a stretch 4 type that has “in the gym range” and the lefty Clarke has great touch off the dribble. Each of these guys can get hot in a hurry.
The Lead Guards
Of course when running an up tempo offense you have to have guys that get the ball up the court and in the shooters hands. 6’ Senior Tre Doughty will most likely be the primary guy doing this. Doughty is a quick and explosive guard who will get into the lane. Wilcox will also get some run as the point guard.
