The Phenom National Tip-Off at Davidson Day is officially here, and Day 1 is loaded with can’t-miss matchups that will set the tone for the weekend. From rising stars and dynamic scorers to powerhouse frontcourts and deep rosters, the talent level is off the charts. Each game brings its own set of storylines — from WS Christian’s balance and Phoenix Montessori’s offensive firepower, to a high-flying showdown between Ambassador Christian and Combine Academy, and finally a heavyweight clash between Davidson Day and Providence Day to close out the night. Here’s a full breakdown of what to watch as the action tips off.
5:00 pm – Phoenix Montessori vs. WS Christian
This will be a very intriguing matchup to start the event, as these two teams have strong talent that should be recognized more. WS Christian looked strong with size, strong guards, and shot-makers on the floor with length. This is a very balanced team led by 2026 Bradley Floyd, 2026 Nicholas Mclean, 2028 Kenyon St. Louis, 2026 Elton James, and so many others who can produce. Phoenix Montessori has plenty of talent to recognize, including 2026 Jossiah Johnson, 2027 KJ Shouse, 2027 Reid Johannes, and so many others that make this team extremely dangerous.
6:30 pm – Ambassador Christian vs. Combine Academy
What makes me excited to watch this game, especially after getting a chance to watch them at the Carmel Tip-Off, will be the absolute show two players could potentially put on. Ambassador Christian will be led by the dynamic scorer in 2027 RJ Moore, who is a three-level scorer that can make it look easy. But Combine Academy has their own thrilling show in 2026 Jeromy Davis, who may be the most explosive athlete in the state of North Carolina. Those two alone are worth the price of attendance.
8:00 pm – Davidson Day vs. Providence Day
What a great way to end the day, and this is going to be a game where we learn a lot about each team. Not only will we learn how strong Providence Day could be and what they bring to the table, but we will also be learning more about all the talent coming together at Davidson Day. The bigs will be the ones to watch with Davidson Day bringing the triple towers of 2028 Xavier Hall, 2026 Will Stevens, and 2026 Cody Peck. Providence Day will have 2026 Osvaldo Haynes, 2027 Zeke Battier, and 2026 Deuce Haynes operating around the paint, as this should be a thrilling game.
