This coming weekend, Phenom Hoop Report will be hosting our second annual National High School Showcase at Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville, NC. 20 teams will be making their way to western Forsyth County to showcase their talents to a plethora of scouts, college coaches, and passionate fans. After thorough review of the field, our team decided to put together a little “sneak preview” of individual players and matchups that people won’t want to miss.
Quality Education Academy vs Hill Academy
Quality Education Academy Players to Watch
Deshawn Corprew
- Corprew is an Arkansas Little-Rock commit that is now getting the recognition he deserves nationally, as he is developing into one of the most intriguing prospects in North Carolina. He can do so much for a team, as he has the ability to score and defend. He has a good frame for his 6’5 size, can knock down shots wherever he is on the court, and really does compete with a chip on his shoulder. He made a big impression when he competed at the NBA Top 100 this summer and this should be a fantastic opportunity for him to prove what he can do this senior year.
Papa N’Diaye
- N’Diaye has been a prospect that has to go through some pains but it now could be his year to show his talent. After coming off an injury, he is back with his lengthy frame and size. He has good handles for a big man, knock down the outside shot inside the arc, and really competes on the boards. If he stays healthy this year, he could prove that he is a Top 100 type player.
Marsellis Purvis
- Young man with big size and he looks like a football player. He competes on the glass and uses some nice moves to score the ball down low. He is one of a few big men that Quality Education has this year and should have another solid season.
Other Players to Watch
Renathan Ona Embo
Keith Stagg
Malik Brevard
Hill Academy Players to Watch
Justin Jackson
- Committed to UNLV already, Jackson has a unique skill set and uses his long 6’8 frame to his favor. He sees the floor very well and uses his body to score and rebound. Jackson is ranked as a Top 40 player in the country for his class and should be a CAN’T MISS kind of prospect at the event.
Marquell Fraser
- Fraser made his commitment to VCU and now is focused on his senior year for Hill Academy. If you haven’t had a chance to watch this young man, he is a combo type guard that can do so much on both sides of the floor. He can handle the ball and finishes near the rim, while also getting to the line. He can fill up the stat sheet and is a nice 1-2 duo with Jackson.
Godwin Boahen
- Senior point guard that is tough as nails. He plays with an aggressive attitude both offensively and defensively. This guard holds offers from schools like Niagara and Eastern Kentucky, but with him in the national spotlight, he could be picking up more offers, including programs in the Ivy League or MEAC.
Brandon John
- “John is a very long and athletic forward. He runs very well, he is active in and around the paint, and he finishes high above the rim. Though slender, there is a lot to like with this forward now, and moving ahead.”
