On Friday afternoon, the event ranked as one of the best in the country kicked off in Raleigh, NC.  The Phenom National Showcase was loaded with talent and Phenom Hoops brought full coverage throughout the event.

In case you missed the game, here is a full breakdown.

Game Report:

Both teams started a little slow offensively but started to find their rhythm.  Brady O’Connell (Ravenscroft) found his touch early on, attacking the paint and using his pull-up jumper.  Northwood was led by Reggie Raynor, finishing strong around the rim to start off.

End of first quarter: Northwood Temple 13 – Ravenscroft 11

Northwood continued to stay aggressive and get to the free-throw line, as Jaquante Harris led the charge with 13 first-half points. He was able to score, initiate the offense, as well as rebound. Brady O’Connell and Josh Hall did their best to keep Ravenscroft within striking distance at half, but Northwood was able to create a little separation at halftime.

Halftime: Northwood Temple 34 – Ravenscroft 25

Ravenscroft started off aggressive but Northwood was able to counter, continuing to knock down jumpers and get to the free throw line.  Defensively though, the quickness and zone created some havoc vs. Ravenscroft as well.  Harris continued to play one of his best games but a late 6-2 run by Ravenscroft kept them in striking distance.

End of third quarter: Northwood Temple 53 – Ravenscroft 47

Harris and Manny Sepulveda led the charge in the fourth quarter, using their speed, handles, and change of pace to control the tempo and get by defenders as Northwood pushed their lead back up to double-digits mid-way through the quarter.  With the pace slowing down, the lead was just too much in the end in this matchup.

Final: Northwood Temple Academy 72 – Ravenscroft 57

Stats:

Ravenscroft: Brady O’Connell 16 points/ Josh Hall 12/ Myles Evans 11

Northwood Temple: JaQuante Harris 23 points/ Reggie Raynor 26/ Jay Hickman 12
