Jayden Ross 6’3 155 2023 Osbourn Park HS, Manassas VA

Jayden has the potential to be a prolific scorer at the high school level! He mixes high level and versatile shooting skills with quick and crafty drives to the rim and a confidence and toughness that far exceeds his freshman classification. At 6’3 155 his frame features broad shoulders and a long wingspan with plenty of vertical growth and filling out still to come. His combination of toughness and creativity allows him to endure contact nicely and he is adept at bouncing off defenders and negotiating a good look at the rim. Jayden’s versatility as a shooter is impressive for a freshman. He has picture perfect and repeatable mechanics, a high release point, great balance, elevation on the shot, and a quick release. He has deep range on both catch and shoot scenarios and off the dribble. His versatility includes good shot-making consistency off the bounce, pick and rolls, off screens and dribble handoffs, in addition, to catch and shoot jumpers. Jayden demonstrates great footwork allowing for his success in various shooting situations. His range extends well beyond the arc and from all angles! Jayden is also very good shooting off one and two dribble pull-ups. Even in transition he can stop on a dime and bury jumpers off the dribble with silky smooth mechanics and great body control. He uses the shot fake nicely and uses sidestep dribbles and step-backs to create separation. He compliments his status as a knockdown shooter with very good quickness attacking off the dribble.

Jayden has very good ball-handling skills including a tight handle and good variety to include inside out dribbles and crossovers. He uses hesitations nicely and has an impressive burst off a hesitation move and gets to the rim in a flash. Jayden is a very good passer and is unselfish for a player with such great scoring instincts and ability. On the defensive end, he is a harassing and quick-footed on-ball defender who will take the ball from you. His hands are quick and he can get in the offensive player’s bubble and not get beat. Jayden is quick in passing lanes for steals, anticipates and reacts quickly. Jayden has all the tools to be a dynamic scorer. He proved during the second half of the 2019-2020 high school season that he was capable of leading an offense and also being a reliable scoring option.

Basketball runs in the family as his younger brother Jacob Ross is a sharpshooter and crafty playmaker who stars for Parkside Middle School in Manassas VA and Team Takeover Olidipo AAU. Their games are so similar and their potential is off the charts! Jayden should have a breakout year next season for Osbourn Park High School. Put that name in your memory banks because you’ll hear it a lot over the next three years and beyond!
