Corey Harden 6'2 160 2020 Varina High School, Henrico VA
Corey is a dynamic off the dribble scorer combining explosiveness and length to blow by defenders while also possessing the ability to stop on a dime and with great balance and fluidity knock down pull jumpers at a good rate. He is a tremendous athlete, speedy and quick with excellent scoring instincts and the elusiveness and ball-handling skills that allows him to get to the rim with regularity. Corey is also an explosive leaper who can dazzle you with acrobatic finishes and can extend his lengthy frame and get to the rim in a hurry. He uses quick crossovers to get his defender off balance and follows with blow-by quickness to get into the lane and can also execute a quick rip and explode even from a standstill and blow by many defenders. Very difficult to stay in front of because of his quickness and rangy strides but he also has a degree of shiftiness that makes defending him an even greater task. He uses sidesteps and creates separation for pull-ups nicely and incorporates hesitations to catch a defender leaning before exploding by his man to the rim. Corey can hit the three-pointer but is most dangerous attacking off the dribble.
He is a lethal scorer in the mid-range and a creative finisher at the rim. He flashes some very impressive playmaking potential where he can find a cutter and thread the needle with some skillful passes. Corey is a solid on-ball defender using his quick feet and long wingspan to harass ball handlers. He is phenomenal in passing lanes as he is so quick to the ball and has great instincts for steals. Under the radar as part of some very talented Varina teams the last couple of seasons, Corey now has an opportunity to showcase his talents and athleticism. An honor roll student in addition to his basketball talents Corey should attract the attention of college coaches and find his name mentioned among the top senior prospects in the state. If his fall performances are any indication he's primed for a breakout year!
