Given his status as a clear leader, it would be impossible to ignore everything Jones brings to this group. He’s a quick, wiry, intelligent floor general with a crafty handle and polished scoring arsenal. Jones is a reliable playmaker with sharp vision and an understanding of how to consistently make the right play. That being said, he’s able to apply scoring pressure with relative ease from all levels. Jones is a knockdown shooter with a nice midrange pull-up and finishing moves at the rim. He’s stronger than his frame would imply and can play through contact really well as a penetrator. Jones is also a scrappy defender and willing rebounder. He’s simply a quality young point guard.
What To Expect:
In all honesty, it would be pretty unsurprising to see Jones shine as one of the better freshmen during the upcoming high school season. Although he’s yet to start his high school journey, Jones has played up for the entirety of the summer and shined as a focal point for WCBA. He’s a smart, poised, all-around guard prospect with a smooth game and the ability to cause a variety of different problems for opponents. Jones is a very polished scorer with a crafty handle, high IQ, and beautiful shooting stroke. He offers excellent balance as a floor general, showing a willingness to get others involved at a high volume while actively taking advantage of any available scoring opportunities. Jones also displays a reliable defensive presence with the necessary instincts to mirror opposing ball-handlers and force turnovers at a consistent rate. He’s still physically developing, yet seems to have no issue playing through contact on either end of the floor. Jones already has the tools and makings to be a noteworthy prospect, so it’ll be exciting to follow his high school career over these next four years.
