Xavier Brown 6’2 155 2022 Surry High School, Dendron VA

Xavier is an impressive, quick twitch athlete with a great basketball frame and basketball DNA! He has a
long frame that will no doubt continue to fill out in time but you can see all indications of a player with
great length a vertical growth potential. He has established himself as one of the top shooting freshman in
the state. He has a textbook stroke and release and his range is ridiculous as he regularly knocks down
shots 2 and 3 feet beyond the arc during his workouts and does so with seemingly little effort. Obviously
he has better in game shot selection as his game is actually predicated on his ability to break down
defenders and create offense with the dribble. Xavier averaged 40.5 points per game last year in middle
school and had several 30+ point performances during AAU. In addition to his tremendous shot making
skills and great range, Xavier has a quick handle and can break defenders down with a number of moves
including a crisp and quick crossover dribble move. He changes speeds nicely, uses jab steps and jab
fakes, uses ball fakes nicely and understands attacking angles. Xavier uses long strides to get quick
penetration and has an explosive first step. He’s really an impressive player given his solid skill set and
veteran-like court demeanor and game management skills. Xavier is a confident and aggressive player
and doesn’t shy away on either end of the floor willing to dig in defensively against anyone with a
scrappy “in your face” on ball style. He’s active on and off the ball and has excellent instincts off the
ball. Brings great energy! You can largely credit his advanced skill set and sound decision making skills
to his father, longtime successful area head girls and boys basketball coach Chris Brown who led
Williamsburg Christian Academy Boys to the 2017 VISAA Div III State Championship. Coach Brown
also led the WCA Girls to the state title in 2012! He played his college basketball at Norfolk State
University where he starred for four years as a guard. Coach Brown’s daughter, Xavier’s sister Keyana
Brown is a former four time all state guard who played her college basketball at Virginia State University
after transferring from Old Dominion University. Needless to say, Xavier has the DNA in addition to his
tireless work ethic on and off the court. He is one of Virginia’s best prospects in the 2022 class!
