Kok is a high major prospect! A long and wiry guard who can knock down the three pointer displaying a
silky smooth stroke but can also slice up a defender off the dribble and get to the rim, he’s got big time
potential! Kok is amazingly agile and has excellent footwork and coordination. He has good quickness
and shiftiness which coupled with his length makes for an impressive basketball player profile. His ball
handling skills are sound! He uses crisp crossovers and inside out dribbles, hesitations, nice stop and go
activity and change of direction moves and executes skillfully and comfortably. His jumper is a thing of
beauty! His stroke is silky smooth, from his pre shot preparation to his high release his mechanics are
disciplined. Kok is a high percentage shooter with great range both on catch and shoot where his release
is quick to his utilization of one and two dribble pull-ups where his rangy strides create separation and if
that isn’t enough he has a nice step back jumper no one can contest. He can handle and get to the rim
shooting over most defenders but his craftiness and shiftiness attacking the basket for someone so tall and
lanky is something to see! He demonstrates excellent body control and very good quickness as he slices
past defenders and gets to the rim and literally explodes of the floor for highlight dunk finishes. Kok is
also very efficient scoring on non dunk finishes showing some craftiness and a nice soft touch around the
rim. Defensively he has proven he can defend multiple positions. He manages to stay in good defensive
posture despite is great length and contain the dribble, his obvious length and monstrous wing span are a
huge benefit in allowing him to back off a quicker ball handler yet close quickly and contest shots.
Nonetheless he relies on his athleticism and agility, his sound footwork to stay engaged against the
dribble even against opposing point guards. He drops down and rebounds, blocks shots and wreaks havoc
in passing lanes as you would expect. Kok brings energy and effort defensively and coupled with his
length and athleticism really creates problems for opponents.
Boston College and Arizona State have offered and Kok will no doubt see a surge in his recruiting this
summer on the Nike Circuit with Boo Williams – Chiz. Kok is the younger brother of Huntington Prep
teammate and D1 target Jokhow “JT” Thor. Keep your eyes on Kok Yat this summer; he should make a
lot of headlines!
