Corey is an exceptional athlete with an explosive 41” vertical jump; he is a very agile, energetic type of athlete and has outstanding speed. A volleyball player and track athlete who participates in the high jump and long jump in addition to his basketball exploits, Corey brings very good size and versatility to the basketball court and a nonstop motor! He always must be accounted for on box outs, as he is a very good offensive rebounder and shows an outstanding 1st and 2nd jump, he has a nose for the basketball. Corey has a good enough first step to create his own shot on straight line drives and provides a matchup threat at the power forward position both facing the basket out the three point arc and making plays around the rim. Corey can hit the mid range jumper, handles well enough to get to the rim from the perimeter and can stretch the floor with the jumper. He is a tremendous asset in transition thanks to the way he runs the floor and can finish around the rim. His end to end speed transitioning from offense to defense is very impressive! Plays above the rim thanks to good length and bounce. He runs the floor hard and moves well without the ball, good shot mechanics and consistency on catch and shoot. He has the ability to cut and change directions quickly which helps him with his off the ball movement, coming off screens, etc. What compliments his mid-range jumper is his ability to elevate off the floor quickly and create space. Corey’s elite athleticism allows him to make plays on the defensive end as well. He can block shots showing good timing and quick elevation, he moves his feet and defends either forward effectively. Corey uses his physical strength extremely well when preventing penetration and also displays solid quickness in his lateral footwork defending the dribble and when sliding over to help. He has the toughness and strength to fight through screens and the motor to stay active and engaged and finish defensive sequences. Corey is a young prospect with plenty of upside and plenty of time to develop. Monitor his progress going forward as a multi sport star who will likely have plenty of options available to him when the time comes to decide on a school and on a sport. He is gifted physically and athletically and has the work ethic required to maximize his potential. The sky is the limit!
