Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment.
Player: Ryan Crotty
Class: 2025
Committed to: Oklahoma State
What Has Been Said:
“Continuing onto a player who continues to garner a reputation as one of the top marksmen in the state, Ryan Crotty. He’s a long, wiry wing prospect with a high motor, unselfish approach, and ability to pose a constant spot-up threat from anywhere beyond the arc. Crotty is a terrific shooter from midrange and beyond the arc and displays the ability to create clean looks within a few dribbles. He contains his assignment well defensively, rebounds at a solid rate, and understands how to properly move without the ball in his hands. Coach More on Crotty: “Ryan needs to work on his ability to make plays off the dribble. He struggled to make three-pointers today but possesses great shooting mechanics. Ryan forces opponents to stay attached to him along the perimeter.” Crotty highlighted some impressive flashes during his time at camp and should be a definite leader for Holly Springs over these next two seasons.”
“It doesn’t need to be reiterated for the umpteenth time but shooting is valuable, and Ryan Crotty might seriously be the best shooter in the state. Although he might be somewhat unassuming at first glance, he’s able to really fill it up from beyond the arc. That being said, Crotty is far more than just a spot-up threat. He’s proven himself as a dynamic scorer with the ability to hit shots off the catch, movement, or create off the bounce for himself and others. Between his size, shooting mechanics, and quick release, Crotty is a difficult matchup for most opponents. He’s a solid athlete with an understanding of how to make an impact defensively and on the glass. Crotty is the type of player that can carve out a role with seemingly any collection of teammates, so don’t be surprised to see his offer sheet expand (Presbyterian, UC San Diego) over the coming months.”
“Been hearing a lot about Crotty from our guys, so getting a chance to watch him was a top priority. I wasn’t disappointed with his shot-making ability and confidence from outside, as he is going to let it fly and showcase his range. But what impressed also was his court vision and awareness to find his open teammates and set up easy baskets. With more attention coming his way, he was able to show his unselfishness and ability to create more.”
