Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.

Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Kaleb Evans
Class: 2025
Committed to: Winthrop

“He’s a tough, athletic guard prospect with great size, confidence, and the ability to fill it up in a variety of ways offensively. Evans is a strong finisher and overall penetrator with a lethal midrange pull-up and nice three-point jumper. He’s able to create for himself and others with relative ease, and utilizes his quickness to consistently breakdown opponents. Next in his development process is working on his ability to move without the ball, as it would make him a more complete player. Coach Council on Evans: “Kaleb is a great athlete and overall scorer. He handles the ball well and creates shots off the bounce. Great in the open floor, but picks his spots in the half-court as well. Capable passer and defender.” Evans showcased a lot of appeal at camp, and will be certainly a prospect to watch progress over the foreseeable future.”

“I believe Evans is one that should garner more eyes from college programs though he does hold multiple offers. Evans though is such an intriguing guard that understands how to run a show but also be an electric playmaker. His wingspan, bounce, and length as a point guard make him unique, and he has strong handles that allow him to get by defenders and explode in getting downhill. But he also understands how to create, pull up off the dribble, and can knock down shots from behind the arc, while also getting others involved and out in transition.”

“Despite some ups and downs as a team, Evans shined as the clear, undisputed leader of this group. His ability to run a team while consistently generating (and converting) shots from all levels makes him a difficult matchup for opponents. Evans came out and hit several three-pointers off the bounce before altering his approach and attacking the basket with increased consistency. He’s a quality athlete and plays well through contact. Evans rebounded well for his size.”

“Evans could be the next college player to come through the program, especially with what he has shown. Learning more about his name this summer, Evans quickly caught our attention with his length and size at a young age, but also his ability to make and create plays.  He has a smooth and confident shot from multiple levels, whether it is pulling up off the dribble or getting to his spots, but he also does a great job in showing off his handles and ability to get around defenders and use that same length to finish around the basket and over defenders. A very athletic guard that has great body control, works well out in transition and impacts the game in a variety of ways. And we believe that he is only going to get better as a player, especially as he earns more responsibilities with his team and adding more to his game.”
