Each and every time Phenom Hoops gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day.  It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player. Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Jonah Lawrence
Class: 2025
Committed to: USC-Aiken

What Has Been Said by Phenom Hoops:

“Next, we look at a player who can produce in a variety of different roles, Jonah Lawrence. He’s a smart, skilled wing prospect with a polished scoring arsenal and the ability to impact the game with or without the ball in his hands. Lawrence scores the ball from all levels and makes his presence felt as a spot-up threat. He offers reliable defensive prowess, rebounding instincts, and the ability to apply pressure in transition. Lawrence finishes well through contact and uses both hands effectively around the rim. Next in his development process is working on getting quicker, as it would make him a more lethal penetrating threat. Coach Paris on Lawrence: “Jonah has size and can rebound well at his position. Displays good footwork when attacking the rim. Moves well without the ball. Very coachable and plays with a lot of energy.” Lawrence enjoyed a quality showing at camp and should be a key piece for Providence Day during his upcoming senior season.”

“The North Carolina prospect was on deck, and already know so much about his game, we were highly interested in seeing how he would flourish on the court. Lawrence checks a lot of boxes with his feel, his size at his position, and his ability to knock down shots and score effectively. Lawrence is at his best rising up over defenders with his jumper from multiple levels but brings a lot more to the table. He is one that should be coveted by many programs.”

“Arguably the main shift for the Chargers was Lawrence emerging in a critical way after somewhat of a sluggish start. Coming out of halftime with only two free-throws, he clearly looked to be more assertive and apply downhill pressure. Lawrence started attacking the basket at every opportunity and it immediately yielded positive results. He kicked off the second half with four consecutive drives to the basket—two resulting in and-one finishes while the other two led to free points at the line. Beyond his scoring burst, Lawrence did a quality job of defending and managing the offense. He’s another guy whose combination of size, skill, and remaining upside should appeal to various types of college programs.”
