The Phenom Challenge is one of the biggest events around the region and in the country, as 180 teams look to compete at the highest level.
We are expecting a HUGE turnout for this event in Spartanburg, SC on April 26-28. So, Phenom Hoop Report wants to do our part in starting the buzz for the event.
Players and teams, of all ages, will have a chance to play in front of college coaches throughout the weekend. But here are a few players to watch out for, as we preview teams that will be competing.

6’3” 2020 LucRichard “Luc” Rameau, PG/SG
Luc started for the Varsity Men’s Basketball Team at Ravenscroft High School in Raleigh, NC this year. He’s a strong solid guard that shoots the ball from the outside and scores in the inside anytime he wants too. His defense was phenomenal throughout the season. He received All State and All conference awards. Luc’s stats during his fall high school season were very impressive. He scored 461 points (15 ppg), FT% 85, Reb 3.7 ppg, Ast 86, Stl 28. Luc is one of NC’s class of 2020 prospects whose talent should attract D1 attention.
6’1″ 2019 Colin Davis, G
Coach Davis, Head Coach, Millbrook Varsity Mens Basketball Team, “Colin is one of the best forward defenders/pure athletes Millbrook had on its roster. He can guard 3 positions and has the athletic ability to get to the rim and knock down shots from outside.” Colin’s stats during his fall high school season were 2.4ppg, Reb 1.5, Stl 1pg, FG% 50, FT% 68.
6’3″ 2020 Amag Kareem “AK” Tate, G
AK played his fall high school season in New York. He impressed the Phenom Hoops Staff during his debut at the Phenom Hoop Report Stay Positive 2019 event where he finished with back to back 25+ pts. showings including 36 pts. in a single game and solidified himself as one of the best scorers NC will have to offer this summer. AK showcased his ability to score AT WILL as he finessed his opponents with his effortless style of attacking the basket, running coast to coast and finishing. Per PHR Miles Masercola, AK is “A sure fire scholarship talent.”
NC Go Hard 16U
6’2” 2022 Christian “CJ” Johnson, PG/SG
CJ started for the JV Men’s Basketball Team at Leesville Road High School in Raleigh, NC this year. He was a Captain and led his Team in points with an average 15ppg. He is a very versatile guard with great basketball IQ, ability to shoot from the perimeter or attack the basket when required, as well as being a great defensive player. He’s extremely quick and gets the ball down the court and finishes over taller defenders through contact. He played up 15U last AAU season and is currently playing up 16U this AAU season. CJ led NC Go Hard 16U to the Phenom Queen City Showcase 2019 16U ACC Bronze Championship with 19 pts. and was named MVP. CJ is definitely one of NC’s class of 2022 talented guard prospects to watch.
6’ 2021 Leonardo “Leo” Antxane, G
Leo played for the Varsity Men’s Basketball Team at South Garner High School in Raleigh, NC this year. He’s an incredibly athletic guard prospect with natural talent. He penetrates with ease and attacks the basket creating opportunities to score. Leo led NC Go Hard 16U to the Phenom Queen City Showcase 2019 16U ACC Bronze Championship with 23 pts. Leo is a slept-on player in NC’s 2021 class that will definitely make his debut this AAU season.
