Phenom Hoop Report is all over the Mid-Atlantic region so it is no surprise that we rolled into one of the hot beds of talent in the Carolina’s, Fayetteville, NC to hold our 3G event this year. While this event may not be as big as others we have hosted of late the talent here is strong. If you were not able to get into the gym, here are a few you may have missed out on.
Christian Crockett, 6’ 2019 G with NC Empire 17u – More bounce to the ounce than most his size. Exciting player makes plays on or off the ball but looks best with the ball in his hands on the attack. Good hops helps him to be a real factor on the glass as well as he rebounds better than several bigs seen here today. Plays well with speed and has the look of a player whose stock is about to go up.
Jerriah Love, 5’8 2019 G with TN Prospects 17u – Tough competitor has no backing down in his game. While we love to see this in a player you have to be able to control it and at times he will allow that fire to cross the line. Kid can stroke it, will go off the bounce, and brings pressure on both ends of the floor. Lack of size is a bit of an issue but has the type of game that works for him and his team.
Zageon Waldon, 6’4 2019 W with NC Empire 17u – Undersized as an inside player and not yet skilled enough to be a wing but gets it done on both ends of the floor. Can put it on the floor and go to the rim and has enough strength to get it done in the dirty areas as well. Not a big time rebounder but will compete and when he was out of the game the opponent had a much easier time showing the impact he has here. Not the high ceiling player you want but he is the solid floor type that can help at the right level.
Jamal Spradling, 6’4 2019 F with TN Prospects 17u – Solid but undersized big that does his role and does it well for his team. He is another one of those Garbage Men type players we’ve mentioned all day. He hangs around the paint, challenges shots, rebounds, and makes the ones he’s supposed to when given the opportunity. Can work at the next level as is while rest of game and range develops.
