Phenom Hoops continues to talk to prospects all around the country, and we recently got in touch with 2026 6’3 Ian Thomas from De Smet Jesuit HS, who also suited up for Mid Pro South this summer.  Thomas has been putting in the work and his recruitment continues to pick up, as he picked up a new offer from Austin Peay.  He talks more about his development and the latest, as well as learning more about his game.

Phenom: How did this summer go overall for you?
Thomas: This summer was awesome. I lived in the gym and worked on things I needed to do to get better.

Phenom: What was your main focus on your game to improve on?
Thomas: Through this, my game grew. My main focus was working on my jumper and my outside shot. I also worked on my body to be college-ready.

Phenom: How would you best describe your game and how you like to operate?
Thomas: I play to win by getting my teammates involved. I love making the right play by breaking down defenses, seeing the floor, and being an extension of my coach.

Phenom: Is there anyone you model your game after?
Thomas: I’ve studied some of the greats. Players like Magic Johnson and the way he distributed the ball.  Also James Harden, the way he is able to play at his own pace but also quickly changes pace.

Phenom: What was it like to play with your team this summer? How did everything go?
Thomas: It was great. Our team is a brotherhood. Many of them I’ve played with for years, starting in the fourth grade.

Phenom: You received an offer from Austin Peay. Thoughts on that program and what do you know about them?
Thomas: Austin Peay has a solid program. They play hard. I also was blessed to receive offers from NIU, SEMO, and Valparaiso this summer as well. I got an opportunity to meet the coaching staff from Austin Peay over the weekend. They were great and are building a family atmosphere.

Phenom: What other schools have been showing interest your way?
Thomas: USI, Missouri State, SLU, Drake, South Dakota, UMKC, and others.
