Back down in Texas once again, Phenom Hoops recently caught up with 2023 6’7 Kenneth Lewis from Washington high school, a small forward that has been catching a lot of attention this summer and has added some recent offers to his list.
Lewis, who is coming off a strong high school season, has now added two new offers from Ole Miss and Louisiana Lafayette to his already impressive list, while several other schools around the region are staying on track with him. Phenom spoke to Lewis about all the latest, including the upcoming visits he will be taking in June.
Phenom: How has this summer been going so far overall for you'
Lewis: Everything has been going well as of right now.
Phenom: Rolling back first to your high school season at Washington. How did this past season go for you in your eyes'
Lewis: It went very well, we turned it around a lot from my sophomore year, but we came up short this year in the fifth round.
Phenom: How do you hope to build off that deep run heading into next season'
Lewis: By putting in 10x the work that we put in last year and staying focused on the goal that we want to achieve, which is winning state.
Phenom: How would you best describe your game on the court' And what have you been working on this summer'
Lewis: On the court, I’m a long, athletic wing that can shoot the three, that can score from all levels, and can guard 1-4 positions. Mostly this summer, I’ve been working on my ball-handling and being more of a leader.
Phenom: Recruitment has gone quite well. Just in your words though, what has been going on lately with everything'
Lewis: I recently just received an offer from Louisiana-Lafayette and Ole Miss. I already have received offers from Prairie View, TCU, Lamar, Texas A&M, Georgetown, and UTRGV. Other colleges that have been showing interest in me is Texas, Texas Tech, Purdue, Wichita State, Grambling State, and Southern.
Phenom: What are your initial thoughts on the last two offers' Does anything stand out'
Lewis: There is nothing particular that stands out with either one, but I like both of the colleges. I watched both this past season.
Phenom: What did the staff at Ole Miss have to say when they offered'
Lewis: They said “we like your intensity towards the game and the way you play. With that being said, we are offering you.”
Phenom: What did Louisiana like about your game'
Lewis: The head coach loved my whole overall game and the way I contribute to games.
Phenom: As you mentioned, you hold several other offers from big-time programs. Any offers or schools really standing out early on or making you a priority'
Lewis: Texas, Purdue, Texas A&M, Louisiana-Lafayette, Ole Miss, and Prairie View have been texting me every week consistently.
Phenom: Have you been able to make any visits to schools'
Lewis: I’m trying to set up visits to Texas A&M, Texas, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, Georgetown, TCU, Louisiana Lafayette, and Prairie View.
Phenom: Any specific dates set up yet'
Lewis: Texas A&M most likely is going to be my first one in June. The rest might be in the fall.
Phenom: In all, when you are listening and visiting schools, what are some things you are looking for'
Lewis: I’m going to look at how the coaches developed their players to get better and what is their goal to do when they are in practice.
