From the Sideline
Palmetto Classic
Hammond vs Blythewood

Day 2 at the Palmetto Classic is here and with it we have 6 more games on tap. Game 6 puts Hammond versus Blythewood with a spot in the championship game on the line. Both teams looked good in winning efforts last night and would look to continue that trend in day 2. Blythewood brought in a decent crowd last night and was able to send the crowd home happy with a close win in the showcase game, could they do it again tonight' Or would a scrappy and physical Hammond team kill their mojo and advance in the bracket' In our final game of day 3, we were waiting for a show.
Blythewood was ready to give us one too, coming out and hanging 21 points on Hammond’s defense in the first quarter, building a 10 point early lead in the process. That lead would swell to 22 points (40-18) by the half as Blythewood had this one under control. Blythewood walks out with a comfortable win in this one and looks to take a championship home tomorrow in the final. The final score in this one is 76-54 Blythewood.

Players of note.

Hammond:

Jordan Burch, 6’5 2020 F – Bull of a player goes for another solid game in this one. Power is his game but he has enough skill to make that power really work for him. Big time football prospect could have a future on the hardwoods if he wants it. (15p/6r)

Blythewood:

Jonathan Breeland, 6’3 2019 G – Back to back big time games for this unsigned senior. No one helped their stock this week more than this talented kid has. Crazy he has not locked up his future yet with an offer. (23p/3r/7a)

Robert Braswell, 6’8 2018 F – Long shooter with another good game here on day 2. Fueled early run with some big 3’s, creating room for his guards to work in. Will need to add muscle and get more physical but kids this tall that can shoot always find a spot at the next level. (19p/8r/1a)
