Christmas in the South means friends, family, and hoops! The Palmetto Classic, Phenom's gift to Columbia South Carolina, kicks off today with 6 games. In game 3 we have Conway vs Freedom Christian. This one proves to be promising as both teams are led by D1 bound players. Conway has 6'7, Providence bound PF Jimmy Nichols leading the charge while Freedom can match with 6'4 2019 G Jamahri Harvey, who hold several offers of his own. Freedom also has intriguing 6'9 2018 F Milos Stajcic in the fold which will make this one a must see. Who would get the win on day one'

Freedom would come out hot and take a 10-5 lead after 1 quarter but 3 of those 5 for Conway came by way of a last second desperation 3 that went in as time expired. As the game went on, Conway would use tough D to fight back and take a lead late in the half. 2nd half would see Freedom make a run behind the hot hand of Milos Stajcic. Conway would make the last run of the game and use it to fuel a run to the end. They get the win 42-40 and advance to the next round of the winner bracket.

Players of note:

Freedom:

Milos Stajcic, 6'10 2018 F ' Skilled big can step out and hit the 3. Also has soft hands in and around the basket to go with the needed toughness to score in those hard spots on the floor. Easy player at the next level the way the game is played. (13p/3r/1 block)

Brandon Murray, 6'3 2019 G ' Great effort on both ends of the floor from this kid. Hit his spots and knocked down the 3 when needed but made most of his contributions on the defensive end. Tough kid gave what he had in this one. (8p/1r)

Conway:

Jaylen Moody, 6'2 2018 G ' Built like a football player but has ability to knock down shots from all over. Hot touch fueled comeback in first half. Strong enough to get where he wants when he wants and is a player you have to check when the ball finds his hands. (13p/3r)

Darren Grainger, 6'4 2018 G ' Tough kid shows up all over the box score. He attacks the defense on the offensive end and the glass on the defensive side. Good bounce to his game adds to his strength to give you one heck of a basketball player when he is on. (11p/7r)
