We always love our travels throughout the state of South Carolina. It is such a fertile ground of talent and that talent usually goes unnoticed. Luckily Phenom Hoops is fortunate enough to have great connections to the state, and we make it a priority to get out and go find the talent.
This past week we went to go see six games throughout the state. Each game had players who college coaches need to start recruiting now. We found some prospects that no one was talking about and we saw some prospects that a lot of people were talking about.
Here is a listing of the teams we saw
Andrew Jackson HS (Kershaw)
Wilson HS (Florence)
Cheraw HS (Cheraw)
Indian Land HS (Fort Mill)
Lewisville HS (Richburg)
Calhoun Falls Charter (Calhoun Falls)
South Pointe HS (Rock Hill)
Marlboro County HS (Bennettsville)
Sumter HS (Sumter)
Richmond Senior (Rockingham, NC)
Here is Part 1 of the Standouts and Storylines of Our Week in Review

New Names to The List
A great thing about trips around South Carolina are finding new names of prospects who people don’t know. This week was no different, we found some new names who college coaches need to start putting on their radar. We got scorers, athletes, and general overall playmakers who college coaches need to go ahead and check in on.
6’2” 2018 Mikail Fourney of Lewisville HS
Fourney is an elite athlete, who is a high level defender. Blessed with great length, the lefty, has natural form on his shot and is a multi-level defender. Fourney defended the 1-3 positions with ease, in the game we saw and padded the stat book with 20 points, 6 assists, and 4 steals. Fourney, makes plays.
5’10” 2019 Jamie Hinson of Andrew Jackson HS
I’m sure that like many people, we walked into an Andrew Jackson game wanting to watch their stud junior DJ James. However, we walked away thoroughly impressed with sophomore Jamie Hinson. Hinson plays a tough game, he rebounds and defends very well. He is also an adept 3-level scorer and ball handler. Coming off a 30 point game last week, Hinson finished with 16 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, and 5 steals in the game we saw.
6’1” 2018 Jerrick Palmer of Indian Land HS
Palmer is a very good scorer, he has length toughness and quickness. He also carries an impressive 3.9 GPA. So far this season Palmer is shooting 44% from beyond the arc and 52% from the field, not to mention his 3.5 assists per game. In the game we watched he finished with 20 points, 5 boards, and 4 assists.
Taken a Major Step Forward
6’ 2018 Maliek Wilcox of South Pointe
Wilcox had a big summer running with his Upward Stars York County team, he put up a lot of points and displayed deep and confident range. Playing with his High School, Wilcox shows the ability to not only score but set up his team mates. Wilcox doesn’t have much recruitment right now, but that should change. He is a D1 point guard who can shoot and set up his team mates. College coaches should look here.
6’4” 2019 Shaman Alston of Indian Land HS
Alston has a very diverse skill set. Not only that but he has a 3.8 GPA. Alston, as a sophomore, leads his team in scoring, rebounding, assists, and steals per game. The game we watched he battled foul trouble, but it was easy to see his versatility as he moved around from a secondary ball handler, to a high post/short corner threat, and a wing creator. As his body fills out, schools should come calling. His game is getting better by the day.

Recruit Unsigned Senior Jalen Cameron and Get a Productive Stud
All Cameron does is produce. As a four year starter for West Florence High School, he has scored 1,500 points and was named All State both his sophomore and junior seasons. Cameron stands as a lengthy 6’5” wing who competes and produces on both ends of the floor. While holding offers from South Carolina State and Citadel, in the last week he has picked up interest from Appalachian State, North Dakota State, Iona, and VMI.
College coaches say if you are going to take a player late, take one who produces over one who projects. There are few players throughout the region who have produced as much as Jalen Cameron.

CJ Felder is Ready to Break Out
Anyone who was at the South Carolina Top 80 saw what Felder was capable of. The 6’7” sophomore has a unique frame and skill set. He is very long with great strength, for his high school team he is forced to play some four and five. However, he is most natural as a wing. We expect this summer, wherever he plays, he will start to really turn heads.
Felder has had all the local high major schools in to see him, and they will all continue to monitor. He doesn’t have any offers yet, but wait until this summer, it could all start then.
