6’2 senior guard Jordan McKenzie recruitment is definitely a perplexing one. During the Phenom Hoops open gym tour, we got yet another chance to check out the fundamentally sound shooting guard. He has an excellent understanding of the game, possesses a high basketball IQ.
McKenzie has good ball handling skills and we particularly like his court vision and passing skills. He’s been a solid contributor for his high school team (Jay M. Robinson) and his Charlotte Royals travel ball team. He has enjoyed team success and constantly does all the things that are necessary to produce wins on the court.
McKenzie has the ability to score from all levels on the court. He has tremendous range on his jumper with proper shooting technique. He has good elevation and the proper extension and follow through.
McKenzie has the ability to put the ball on the floor and has excellent bounce off the dribble. Without question, McKenzie combines fundamentals, basketball IQ and good athleticism.
Currently, he is getting a lot of interest from D2 schools with some D1 schools lurking in the background. McKenzie has a relentless work ethic and would be a welcome addition at the collegiate level.
