5’10 ’28 Jadiah Outing (Carolina Achieve)
The Carolina Achieve squad quietly stood out among the more intriguing teams on display, and Outing was a big reason why. He’s a strong, shifty lead guard with the ability to consistently create clean looks for himself and others as a focal point. Outing scores the ball at an aggressive rate from all levels, highlighting a smooth jumper and quality penetration sense, but can also set up others with relative ease. Outing utilizes his quickness and craftiness well to get where he wants off the bounce. He’s also a capable defender at the point of attack.
5’10 ’27 Brodie Atkins (Grind Hoops)
Between his excellent shooting prowess and crafty shot-making ability, Atkins has no issue asserting himself as an offensive weapon. He’s comfortable in spot-up situations or creating his own shot off the bounce, and attacks at a solid rate to mix it up from all levels. Atkins is a willing passer, but looks to apply scoring pressure whenever possible. He understands how to navigate the two-man game as a creator and makes solid decisions with the ball in his hands. Atkins competes with energy, scores with consistency, and is capable of initiating the offense as needed.
6’7 ’28 Mason Murphy (Midstate Magic)
Given the fact that he’s playing up an age group and consistently producing as a key piece while still highlighting obvious long-term appeal, it’s easy to be impressed by Murphy. He’s clearly gotten bigger and stronger over the last year without compromising his versatility or general skillset. Murphy is a matchup problem for opponents, showing the ability to pass, handle, and apply scoring pressure in a variety of ways. He’s able to defend multiple positions, rebound at a quality rate, and find success from several positions. Murphy already does everything well, but only continues to improve in all facets of the game. Should he continue to progress, there’s certainly a lot to like.
6’4 ’27 Darius Barnett (Grind Hoops)
Although this roster is loaded with tough, physical pieces, Barnett always seems to set the tone with his motor and rugged approach to the game. He’s a very active, well-rounded piece who knows how to impact the game through his energy and general involvement on both ends of the floor. Barnett excels at getting downhill and putting pressure on the rim, but can also knock down jumpers or set up others as needed. He offers a pesky, engaged defensive presence and makes hustle plays at a quality rate. Barnett continues to highlight next-level appeal.
