6’2 ’29 Sheldon Davis (Superfriendz)
Quietly one of the more dynamic prospects on display, Davis has the tools and on-court identity to continue trending as a nationally recognized talent. He possesses an incredible blend of attributes for a young guard, including a physically defined frame with strong athleticism, sharp instincts, and a polished skillset. Davis utilizes his tight handle and smooth creation skills to effortlessly break down opponents and make plays off the bounce for himself and others. He touches the paint and finishes legitimately whenever he wants, but also highlights an excellent midrange pull-up and the ability to knock down jumpers from beyond the arc. Davis is a tough, physical defender with a high motor and terrific nose for the ball. Though young, all signs point to him being a major prospect worth noting.
6’0 ’29 JT Williams (Carolina Bulldogs)
Given the massive load Williams carried for this group, it was easy to recognize his overall impact. He’s a crafty, quick-twitch lead guard who displays nice playmaking instincts and the ability to fill it up as a scorer in a variety of ways. Williams breaks down defenders with relative ease to touch the paint and finish or set up others. He shoots the ball at a nice rate from midrange and beyond the arc, and is willing to take whatever the defense gives him. On the other end, Williams stands out as a pesky defender with the quickness and scrappy nature to cause issues for opposing guards at the point of attack. He should be poised for a notable sophomore season.
6’8 ’28 Chase Smith (Dwok Elite)
It doesn’t seem to matter the context or setting, Smith is one of the most consistently productive players across North Carolina. He’s a strong, skilled forward/post player with excellent IQ, touch, and inside-out ability. Smith finishes very well around the basket and plays well through contact, but can also operate along the perimeter to space the floor or apply pressure off the bounce. He’s always been a very reliable interior piece, but has continually expanded his offensive versatility over the last year or so. Smith secures rebounds at a quality rate and positions himself to make plays defensively. He should have yet another big year on the horizon.
6’9 ’27 Charles Pur (Maadwest Elite)
Although we’ve seen Pur countless times over the years, it was easy to appreciate everything he showcased during this event. Between his rim-protection and overall skill for his size, he provides a very impactful identity on both ends of the floor. Pur knows how to score the ball from the block, along the perimeter, off the bounce, or simply capitalize on drop-offs or second-chance opportunities. He runs the floor well in transition and shoots the ball effectively for his size/position. In addition to his skillful offensive presence, Pur was arguably even more impressive defensively. He rebounds his position and displays terrific timing and mobility to consistently block or alter shots around the basket. Pur continues to attract schools from throughout the country.
