6’0 ’27 Aaron Wood (Oviedo Elite)
Anyone who has watched this squad already knows how much value Wood brings as a two-way floor general. He’s smart, unselfish, and confidently sets the tone as the main creator. Wood reliably breaks down defenders, touches the paint, and makes quality decisions with the ball in his hands. He sees the floor very well as a passer, but also looks to take advantage of open scoring opportunities from all levels as much as possible. Wood defends with visible energy and toughness, and anticipates very well to force turnovers at the point of attack. He displays physicality and useful rebounding ability for his size/position. Given how he sets the tone, it’s easy to envision Wood finding success at the next level.
6’2 ’27 Laurence Black (Anthony Morrow Elite)
Quietly one of the more notable two-way players on display, Black always seems to find ways to impact the game. Although he’s a reliable scorer and well-rounded offensive piece, so much of his value comes through his defensive prowess and overall rugged nature. Black is a terrific athlete with the length, strength, and physicality to make life consistently difficult for opponents. His high motor, sharp instincts, and the ability to play bigger than his size allows him to effectively defend multiple positions on the floor. Black rebounds his position well and knows how to push the break in transition. He makes sound decisions with the ball, but is also comfortable filling in the gaps. Black’s tough, unselfish, malleable game should make him a target for various types of programs.
6’2 ’27 Darion Hines (Oviedo Elite)
Although we’ve grown accustomed to Oviedo Elite’s slew of talented pieces, it’s difficult to overlook how seamlessly Hines asserted himself as a leader and impactful two-way piece. He’s a long, wiry guard whose adaptable nature allows him to produce in several different roles. Hines is a smart, well-rounded player who initiates the offense, sets up others, and poses a smooth shooting threat from the perimeter. He attacks effectively off the bounce and sees the floor well to make quality decisions with the ball. Hines is great defender whose toughness, anticipation, and nonstop motor lead to constant involvement. He’s also more than capable of filling in the gaps as needed. Like the rest of this roster, Hines should appeal to college coaches.
6’6 ’27 Jaden McCandies (All Carolina)
Given his steady growth over the last twelve months, it’s easy to see why McCandies is a popular name among college coaches. His growth, both in terms of physique and overall skillset, has allowed him to rapidly expand his identity as a player. McCandies is an excellent shooter with great feel, positional size, and the ability to impact the game with or without the ball in his hands. He’s a lethal spot-up threat who knows how to move without the ball to consistently find open seams within the defense and knock down jumpers at a high percentage. That being said, McCandies knows how to attack off the bounce, finish at the basket, and hit pull-ups in the midrange. He’s an engaged defender and useful rebounder who will only continue to progress as his body develops.
