We are about a month into the season, and we are starting to get a better understanding of a few teams while there have been a few other surprise teams as well in the state of North Carolina.  One team though that is looking strong and primed for a run has been Northwood.

The Chargers have put together a strong resume early on and have battle-tested themselves early with games against Wayne Country Day, Jordan, Cannon, Carmel Christian, and Millbrook. And they aren’t done yet, as they have a tough rough as well through the holidays.

But with their lone loss coming against Cannon at Tourney Town, Northwood has looked geared and ready for what they hope to be another strong season but ending on top. They have so many pieces you have to like when you look at their roster, as they have an excellent balance both inside and out. They are led by their clear leader in 2024 Drake Powell, who is looking strong as a North Carolina Player of the Year candidate; he is posting averages of 24ppg, 7rpg, and 4apg.

But this is a team that has plenty of other weapons, as 2024 Jake Leighton, 2023 Kenan Parrish, 2023 Max Frazier, 2024 Fred Whitaker, or others have all played a pivotal part in this team’s success early on.

Northwood has been a power over the years, and they certainly have no intentions of slowing down again this year.  The Chargers have all the pieces they need to make another deep run and when watching this team, they looked locked in and ready to do just that.
