The 2023 recruiting class is starting to wrap up here in North Carolina, and there are plenty of steals that programs are getting in the coming future. We have a few players that recently announced that could have a big impact at the next level, so let’s dive into players that could ultimately be steals in college.
2023 Bryce Cash (Carmel Christian) – Cash has proven himself time after time, and it was Queens that ended up being the winner in this one. Keeping a talent like Cash home was a big get for a rising program that has proven itself already but is looking to make an even bigger noise. And Cash is one that can impact the floor in a variety of ways, whether on offense or defense. He is exceptional in getting downhill, finishing through contact, and displaying bounce in his game. But he is a difference-maker defensively, which will certainly come in handy at the next level.
2023 Nick Dorn (Chambers) – Dorn is a player that continuously proved himself this past high school season and is one that could help contribute immediately at the next level. He has the college frame that will help him adjust to the next level early on, and he can be such a difference-maker in his ability to knock down shots from multiple levels and with his range. Dorn is a player that plays and shoots the ball with a ton of confidence, and that could easily help Elon in the coming years.

2023 Jah Short (Farmville Central) – You have to give props to New Orleans coming to North Carolina and getting a talent like Short. We have watched him on several occasions, and he continues to display his leadership, his impact, and his ability to win games. Short is a proven winner on the floor, and he has really elevated his game year after year. He has tremendous athleticism, he does a great job in getting downhill and finishing, and can really score the ball effectively from a variety of levels. Short has proven himself time after time on the big stage, and he should carry that over to the next level.
2023 Jaiden Thompson (Central Cabarrus) – Thompson is another proven winner, and he has only gotten better year after year. He is coming off a state title at Central Cabarrus, and though it took time for his recruitment to pick up, it was ultimately Charleston Southern that took the leap and secured his commitment. Thompson is quick and shifty, does a great job in creating for himself and others off the dribble, and is a player that can make can make an impact on both sides of the floor.
